The Masons are the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world, with a rich history in the U.S. that dates back to colonial times — George Washington was among the first Masons in the newly formed Unites States. Masons do their charitable work at a level where real differences can be made in the lives of individuals, families and communities. Following the philanthropic precedent of many other Masonic charities, the Children’s Dyslexia Centers Program represents a substantial charitable commitment.
Since 1994 the Scottish Rite Masons of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, have been national leaders in the effort to help children and their families overcome the painful obstacles of dyslexia. Today there are 42 Dyslexia Centers operational in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin. Additionally we have certified more than 500 teachers and other professionals in our effective Orton-Gillingham methodology. Dyslexia professionals have come to respect the effectiveness of our program.
Now that our program has stood the test of time, nationally we are seeing the results of our work in men and women who graduated from college and are excelling in their lives thanks in great measure to the effectiveness of the help they received at our Children’s Dyslexia Centers.
